Becoming an Elijah and Deborah in this Generation (3)
I trust you had a great weekend and your new week is starting well. For the past two weeks, we have been examining the series “Becoming an Elijah and Deborah in this Generation” which you can go back to here:
We talked about the power and the spirit of God. The power of Elijah is the sealing power, while the spirit of Elijah is the prophetic anointing. Elijah was a man closer to God and he was obedient to God’s instructions. The spirit of Elijah was so powerful that Elisha had to demand double his spirit and continued in the same line of divine operations. What does the spirit of Elijah mean? The spirit of Elijah was evident when;
i. God told him to hide by the brook Cherith in Jordan, where he drank and was fed by the ravens.
ii. God told him to leave the brook Cherith for Zarephath where a widow would sustain him.
iii. God told him after 3years to go back to Ahab to send rain upon the earth.
iv. He was able to execute all that he did during his time.
Deborah was a woman full of confidence and boldness in the face of difficulty. She gave Barak (the army commander) confidence which brought about victory and freedom for the people of Israel. Also, Deborah was obedient and closer to God, and she teaches and inspires people to be better. She was a visionary and charismatic leader. One key thing about her is her excellent spirit.
As Christians in this generation, we must emulate the prowess of Elijah and Deborah. We must be full of God’s power and spirit, by being obedient and cultivating intimacy with God. It is my prayer for you that, your salvation will not be a waste, and you will experience God like never before, in Jesus’ name.
