Hello my dear friend at the Prophetic Corner
I trust you had a great weekend and your new week is starting well. Last week, I couldn’t share with you due to some circumstances but I am happy to be back renewed in the strength of God. The week before then, we looked at the series “When it is God and not the enemy” which you can go back to: https://adewaleonagbesan.substack.com/p/when-it-is-god-and-not-the-enemy. But, for this week, there is something important to explore.
For many Christians, truly we’ve had a reason to give our lives and surrender our totality to Jesus; we also belong to a denomination and we’re committed workers in the vineyard of God; we are executing purpose in certain ministries that God has destined and committed in our hands; we demonstrated the power of God in various dimensions and many other spiritual endeavors, but beyond all of these, one critical question for every one of us to ask and provide answer to is that – have I really met Jesus? Have I really encountered God?
When we carefully study the Bible, there are examples of men who were doing various spiritual endeavors but they still have never met God, and it was until they truly encountered God that their lives became transformed. Let’s take a look at some of these men, and understand that while it looked as though their lives were going well, it was the encounter with God that properly positioned them.
In Gen18:1-10, the LORD encountered Abraham and his story changed for good and he was positioned to interact with God better. In Gen26:23, God encountered Isaac and He blessed and multiplied his seed. In Gen32:24-30, Jacob encountered God, and his major desire was to be blessed despite having enormous wealth, and this encounter changed his name from Jacob to Israel. In Ex3:1-10, Moses encountered God in a mysterious manner – a burning bush that was not consumed, and this encounter made him available for the divine assignment to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. In 1 Kings 19:11-18, despite having done several works, Elijah was at a critical point in his life, and it was the encounter with God that gave him courage and clarity. In Isa6:1-6, despite being a prophet, Isaiah’s encounter with God was what gave him a true revelation that transformed his ministry. In Eze1:28, God encountered Ezekiel, and this birth several other encounters he had with God.
These men were hearing the voice of God but one unique thing about their encounters is that; they saw God face to face. Isn’t it interesting to hear Job say that; “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee”? So, as a Christian, beyond hearing the voice of God, have you seen the face of God? This encounter is usually manifested during a lonely time with God, a period of retreat. It is forged through intimacy with God and recognizing His presence.
It is my prayer for you in this new week that God shall give you the grace to do things by the leading of His spirit and that your flesh shall not prevail over you, in Jesus’ name.
