I trust you had a great weekend and your new week is starting well. For the past three weeks, we have been examining the series “Becoming an Elijah and Deborah in this Generation” which you can go back to here:
But today, let’s look at something known as “The Hand of God”. At the prophetic corner, the major prophecy for this year is that it is the year of the Hand of God -
The Bible tends to describe the physical attributes of God and one of these attributes is the Hand of God. In some instances, the Bible uses “Hand” “Arm” “Holy Arm” “Strong Hand” “Stretched out arm” and “Right Hand”. What do all of these means?
The arm of God signifies strength and rulership (Lk1:51). Most times, God does marvelous and wondrous things with His right hand and does warfare with His holy arm which brings victory (Ps98:1). Also, God manifests and appears with His strong hand (Isa40:10). The right hand of God is glorious in power to dash in pieces and scatter the enemy and the proud in the imagination of their hearts (Ex15:6). The right hand of the Lord always do valiant things of rejoicing and salvation and it is always exalted (Ps118:15).
The Bible also talks about the holy arm of the Lord which brings salvation to all nations of the earth (Isa52:10). So, whenever man fails to do the desire of God, especially spiritual things, God causes His arm to bring salvation, and righteousness to sustain that soul (Isa59:16). Whenever there is none to help and to uphold, the arm of the Lord brings salvation (Isa63:5). A deep mystery is that, all the weapons of war and the arm of men can never bring and salvation, except the right hand and the arm of God (Ps44:3,6,7; Josh24:12). The Lord gives power to the might of our hands to get wealth (Deut8:17).
The arm of God has redemption power (Ps77:15). The arm of the Lord is mighty, His hand is strong and His right hand is high (Ps89:13). The right hand and holy arm of God do marvelous things, cause victory, salvation, righteousness, mercy, and truth to mankind (Ps98:2-3). God brings man out of burden, and bondage, and causes redemption by His stretched-out arm (Ex6:6). The Lord brings out and redeems from the enemy with His mighty hand and by His stretched-out arm (Deut4:34,37; 7:7-8; 9:29; 26:8). The hand is to war, and the finger to fight. The arm of God is empowered over weapons (Ps144:1).
The hand of God was upon Elijah, and he did extraordinary things (1kings18:46), the hand of God was upon Ezra and his request was granted by the king (Ezra7:1-9), as well as Joseph who prospered in the house of his Egyptian master (Gen39:2). In 1Chro4:10, Jabez understood the significance of the hand of God, and so he prayed ‘….and that thine hand might be with me….’. So, if there is any prayer you want to engage in this week, it should be that – Father, let your mighty hand be upon me for me to fulfill my purpose in life.
