The Mystery of Stones
Hello my dear friend at the Prophetic Corner
I trust you had a great weekend and your new week is starting well. Last week, we began a new series “The God of Jeshurun” which you can go back to here: https://adewaleonagbesan.substack.com/p/the-god-of-jeshurun-2. We are not done with this series on “The God of Jeshurun”, so we shall come back to it later because, for this week, the Lord wants us to examine ‘The Mystery of Stones’. In the bible, there are various dimensions to stones, both positive and negative.
In John 1:42, when Simon was brought to Jesus, Jesus said to him “…. thou shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone”. Here, the stone connotes the foundation. Here, the stone is pointing to being established and rooted in the purpose and will of God.
In Mt. 16:13-18, Jesus gathered his disciples at the coasts of Caesarea Phillippi and asked them who men say Jesus is. While other disciples gave their responses, it was only Simon Peter who gave Jesus the most accurate description by saying “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. And Jesus responded by saying “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. So, it is evident that Simon Peter had a close fellowship with God for him to have known who Jesus is.
In John 11: 38-39, when Jesus got to the grave of Lazarus, it was a cave with a stone laid upon it, and He ordered them to take away the stone. In this case, the stone stood as a hindrance to the miraculous intervention of Jesus. What this means is that stone could represent a blockage to the manifestation of one’s glory.
In Mt. 27:60-66, when one of the disciples of Jesus known as Joseph of Arimathaea went to Pilate to request for the body of Jesus which he later laid in his tomb which he made in the rock. The mystery here is that Joseph was the one who rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre and Mary Magdalene and the other Mary remained there to watch over it. However, the guards were unsatisfied and went to Pilate to get an order to lock the stone and stood by the tomb, to prevent people from removing Jesus’ body and claiming He was resurrected. In Mt. 28:2, there was a great earthquake resulting from the descending of the angel of the Lord who came to roll the stone away and sat upon it. So, in this case, it took a great earthquake to roll away a great stone.
In Acts 4:11, speaking to the rulers, elders, scribes, Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other kindreds of the high priest at Jerusalem, Peter said to them that the crippled beggar who was lame from his mother’s womb at the beautiful gate of the temple was healed and made whole by the power in the anointed name of Jesus, whom they crucified and God raised from the dead. And due to this, the stone which the builders never thought is important has become the cornerstone. Here, is another dimension of stones such that a stone that was inconsequential to men is made the cornerstone by the power in the name of Jesus.
If there is anything to note is that the stone in the hand of men is different from the stone in the hand of God. And for you to become a refurbished stone in the hand of God, you must have an encounter and a close fellowship with God.
It is my prayer for you in this new week that every evil stone assigned against your greatness and manifestation shall be rolled away by the angels of God, in Jesus’ name.
